We reached out to IDP’s in Douala Cameroon, the precise venue was Bocom IV. Our initial budget was feeding 50 IDPs but we reached out to over 100 individuals. We donated food items; rice, beans, oil, salt, groundnuts, garri, sugar, milk. And sanitary items detergents, sanitizers, sanitary towels, toilet tissue. We had our volunteers educate the people on COVID-19 preventive measures and hygiene education. We also had the IDP’s share their stories which were really pathetic given that most of them had lost loved ones and their homes in the process of escaping for their lives. Some were even still recovering from gun shots wounds and poor health conditions. Most of them were in need of capital to start petit-trades of their own. We were not able to meet up to all their needs of providing capital for their businesses but we could only give what we could afford and promised to look into their financial situations and pay them a visit back. We enforced COVID-19 precautions during the distribution of items like; 6ft apart, wearing face masks and gloves and also sanitizing before and after the event. It was a successful day as our volunteers also had some time to eat drink and regain their energy.
